About Imlay House

Imlay House is a residential aged care facility (nursing home) in Pambula, on the Far South Coast of NSW. It is situated in Merigan Street Pambula, conveniently located close to all local services including hospital, shops, airport and clubs. It is a welcoming and tranquil home with qualified professional staff who provide high quality care to residents.

The home is fully compliant with Aged Care Accreditation Standards and has achieved 3 years' accreditation.

Imlay House is owned by the local community. It is a not-for-profit organisation overseen by a Board of Directors who are all volunteers. The home opened in 1985 with 52 beds. A further building program saw the opening of the McPherson wing in 1998, and the Caris Roarty wing was completed in 2007. The foundation of Imlay House began in 1980 by a committee of concerned local citizens, and has subsequently been supported financially by the Imlay District Nursing Home Opportunity Shop. Over the past 30 years, the "OP Shop" has raised over $1,000,000 to support the nursing home. An active Ladies Auxiliary also supports Imlay house.
Imlay House employs over 100 staff, many of whom have been staff members for many years. Volunteers and community groups visit regularly.

Imlay House offers 72 residential care places, including secure accommodation for residents with dementia. Spacious and attractive single or double rooms are available. Throughout the home, there are several lounge rooms, dining rooms, and quiet sitting areas. It is all at ground level, and is fully landscaped for walking enjoyment.

  • A telephone system is now connected directly with telstra billing direct to resident not through IH.
  • Large screen television sets are available in lounge areas.
  • All residents’ rooms have a garden outlook.
  • Residents have a productive vegetable garden.
  • All meals are prepared in our kitchen by a qualified chef, and all dietary needs are catered for.
  • Full laundry services are provided Monday - Friday at no additional cost to residents.
  • A qualified Diversional Therapist directs a varied lifestyle program, including activities and outings to meet residents' needs and interests.
  • A hairdresser is available weekly, at residents’ expense.
  • The Community Visitors Scheme provides volunteers to visit individual residents who wish to participate.
  • Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time, and are invited to join residents for meals at a small cost.
  • Ample parking is available.

Prices

Accommodation Payment
From 1 July 2014, a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) applies to all residential aged care places as legislated in the Commonwealth's Living Longer Living Better program. The maximum RAD for all room types at Imlay House is $375,000.
Residents can choose to pay for their accommodation by a refundable deposit, a daily payment (DAP), or a combination of both. A refundable deposit is paid as a lump sum. A daily payment accrues daily and is paid monthly. A DAP is calculated on the basis of the interest rate determined by the Commonwealth and reviewed quarterly. The current interest rate is 4.98% pa.
A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments:

Single Room Shared Ensuite
DAP - $46.39
Max RAD $340,000
Shared Room Ensuite
DAP - $45.02
Max RAD $330,000
Daily Care Fees
In addition to the accommodation payment, each resident pays Daily Care Fees that are regulated by the Commonwealth Department of Social Services.
The basic daily care fee is 85% of the single rate of basic age pension, indexed twice yearly in March and September. If applicable, a means tested daily care fee is also payable. Means tests are carried out by Centrelink.
Imlay House staff cannot provide financial advice. Prospective residents and their families are strongly advised to seek independent financial advice.
